1.1 Intended Users and Tracking Capabilities

This manual is intended for users who use HIG Glove, HiggloveNg, and a VMC receiver to drive finger movements on a virtual avatar.

What the Standard Version Can Track

  • The standard version supports 5 finger flexion degrees of freedom, corresponding to flexion and extension of the thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, and little finger.
  • It can track natural open-hand and closed-fist poses, as well as basic gestures formed by combinations of five-finger flexion.
  • HiggloveNg outputs finger bone data through VMC for receiver software to drive the virtual avatar's fingers.

Large-Scale Deployments or Higher-DoF Requirements

If you require large-scale deployment, multiple glove pairs used in the same space, 6DoF or 7DoF finger solutions, or other custom capabilities, see the Business Customer / Development Integration Manual, or contact HIGVR staff to discuss your project requirements.

Spatial Tracking Limitations

  • The gloves and this VMC output do not provide the spatial position of the palm or arm.
  • When spatial position data is required, it must be provided by controllers, Trackers, SlimeVR, Rebocap, or another tracking solution.
  • This workflow does not require SteamVR to be installed or connected.
